Individual Psychotherapy

Rachel Katherine Levy, PhD

Licensed Clinical Psychologist located in Bronxville, NY & Upper East Side, New York, NY

Individual Psychotherapy (IP) involves meeting one-on-one with a doctor in a safe, caring, nonjudgmental, and confidential environment.

Individual Psychotherapy (IP) is the treatment of psychological problems on a one-to-one basis.  It involves the use scientifically validated procedures to help people with a broad variety of mental illnesses and emotional or behavioral difficulties.

There are several approaches that Dr. Levy may use in helping you.  These include cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), interpersonal, behavioral, and psychodynamic psychotherapies, and more.  The type of psychotherapy you embark upon will depend on your particular difficulties, goals and personality.   After consultation but before treatment, Dr. Levy will provide you with a clear description of the approaches she recommends for you.  You will have an opportunity to ask any questions you have about various treatment options in order to make the best possible decision for you.

Otherwise healthy people also benefit from individual psychotherapy.  In it, inevitable life stressors, conflicts, and stumbling blocks are used to increase your awareness, insight, knowledge, skills, effectiveness and well-being.
